The Peruvian Prince of Fashion
Fashion Forward Men Chats with Sergio Davila
The window of time was small, but accepting the invite to chat with one of fashions fast rising stars (days) before he was scheduled to leave the country was no-brainer. Fresh after showing his S/S 2015 Collection, Fashion Forward Men had the wonderful pleasure of sitting with designer Sergio
Davila at his Soho/New York store (8 Spring Street). Warm, inviting, and exuding calmness, Davila appeared to know the secret of keeping his cool in an otherwise chaotic industry. Perhaps its because its a world he was destined to be a part of.
It all started with a vision. Hearing Davila speak about his beginnings, you realize the importance
of image came to him at an early age. Although born in Peru, Davila made the sensible decision to relocate and attend the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. There, he would acquire many of the needed skills to heighten his talents.
Graduating in 2002, and more passionate than ever, SD wasted very little time getting started on his first collection. And why not? He was the very embodiment of his own inspiration. Based on how he wanted to dress himself, Davila's goal was to marry influences from North, Central, and South America. Coined as
"The style of the men from the 3 Americas," the designer's signature was starting to form.
His points of view paid off. Quickly a quiet little buzz began to swarm around the designers name. And with that buzz, buyers from several popular west coast retailers started to emerge. Orders were placed, leaving Davila in good spirits,
but this was only the beginning. The once softly whispered buzz was making its way to becoming a full on shout. Shortly thereafter awards and accolades began to come his way. DNR recognized him as one of the must see collections of 2004. In 2009 Mr. Davila was named the winner of Fashion Group International´s Rising Star Award for Best Menswear Designer. In 2010 he received a nomination for Best Menswear Designer of the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation. The list goes on...

With achievements comes notoriety, and with notoriety often comes scrutiny. And while Sergio may appreciate mass audiences recognizing him as a designer, he has also managed to gain another title... TRAILBLAZER!!! The first Peruvian to receive such high accreditation in the fashion world, one can only imagine the amount of angst that falls on ones shoulders. Humbled and honored, Mr. Davila seems to be taking it all in stride.
Prima cotton, light weight alpaca wool, and the softest of leathers, what more can a gentleman ask for when shopping for his S/S 2015 wardrobe? Like all of his collections, Sergio Davila's clothing is made of comfortable natural fibers. Functional, affordable and smart, the collection helps men eliminate the fuss when it comes to getting dressed. Dont believe us? Take a peek at some of Segio's latest and see for yourself!!!
You can thank us later...
