art, music, and reminiscing on how it may have been in the past, Downtown 82 is an homage to some those oh so fly kool kats that doesn't always get the recognition they deserve. when it comes to style or their craft.
When photographer Tarik Carroll and Production Assistant Mark Anglin first approached stylist Rudy Reed they had this idea of wanting to pay respects to a certain rock and style icon, Lenny Kravitz. But after brainstorming, the trio came up with the idea of recognizing several soulful, iconic, creative men.
Infusing style traits of Jean-Michel Basquiat, the sometimes simplistic but retro vibe from Terrance Trent Darby, and the flashiness of Mr. Kravitz, Downtown 82 was born.

Fantastic view from a collected mash-mind stylist who wears his cool, night AND DAY. This spread takes me through the excitement of the 80's-early 90's w/ the product of a 1970's head of confidence & a sexy genius at that. Reminds me of the best years of myself. ;)
