LANDEROS FW16
STRANGE NEW _ORK
For almost two years now, Fashion Forward Men has taken pride in the blossoming relationship that we have with uber creative designer Andre Landeros Michel. And since our initial meeting, we are pleased to see that his convictions and approach to fashion has not faltered.
Monday February 15th 2016, would be one for the history books for the New York based designer. It was the revealing of the Landeros New York FW16 collection. Showcased at the Scandinavia House for the second year in a row, the collection was a continuation of sorts from its previous. What changed for Landeros New York's latest collection was the inspiration. While components of glam, rock, and luxury will always be a trait of the brand, the FW16 collection pays its respects to legendary doorman, promoter, and new wave artist Steve Strange.
It was the 80's, and the United Kingdom was gearing up for its next movement of sorts since the British Invasion. Mod motifs were a thing of the past. It was now time for opulence, avant garde, and androgyny. Known as Blitz Kids, popular artists and groups such as David Bowie, Boy George, Duran Duran, and The Eurythmics, would assist in giving this new era an image.
Featuring models who exuded empowerment, the tone for the collection was set. Adding extra emphasis to the presentation was singer/songwriter Harrison Scott. Placed in the very center, Scott performed as guests swarmed around one another like bees in order to take the perfect picture.
When it comes to Landeros New York, one should only expect the finest. Fine wools and tweeds may be familiar fabrications that go hand in hand with classic menswear, and yes the collection has that. But its Landeros's deliverance of the unexpected which causes his fast growing fan base jaws to drop season after season. Fine silk tops, mongolian lamb coats, and amazing trench coats are just a few of the more noticeable pieces of the collection.
