LANDEROS NEW YORK FW19

LANDEROS NEW YORK TAKES US ON A DEVIOUS JOURNEY WITH THEIR WITH THEIR LATEST COLLECTION

Nocturne (def.)
:A work of art dealing with evening or night.
:Music of the night.

We've been covering his shows since the Fall of 2014, and we don't plan on stopping anytime. Sunday February 10th goes down in the books as another triumph for designer Andre Michel Landeros. Held once again at the Scandinavian House, guests poured in filling the large room - to wait for the always cool creations that Landeros New York delivers.

Its the middle of the week, picture a banker leaving his job after his shift ends. he bounces from bar to bar throughout the course of the evening. Time continues to go by. Its now 4:30 in the morning. The banker is now at a sex club doing the most perverted things he could imagine. His once carefully coiffed hair now has a slight frizziness to it.  His clothes have become disheveled and sloppy. He finally decides to put an end to his night of deviant behavior to prepare for another day at work. Now in a rush, his fresh change of clothes remarkably looks just as disheveled as the ones he recently took off.

What was the purpose of the story you ask? It was the story that Mr. Landeros told me to describe the his vision for his latest collection.

If the formula isn't broke, then don't try to fix it. Die hard fans of the Landeros brand knows that the collections are always influenced by music in some of way. And for the past few seasons, there has always been a performance. This year it would be the artist Bright Light Bright Light. His birth name Rod Thomas was recognized by many of the fashionistas because of his residency as a dj at Club Cumming on Saturdays. Originally from Wales now living in New York, Bright Light Bright Light  performed two of his own song(s An Open Heart and Love Part II), dressed in a suit designed by Landeros New York.

It was now time for the main event. The music had now changed from passionate up beat lyrically driven songs to darker more mysterious tunes. A voice was heard continuously saying a world over and over again but I couldn't quite make out what it was. I then realized that in all my efforts of trying to get to the very front of the standing audience, I unfortunately placed myself right next to the speaker. I did learn that the distorted voice was one of Landeros best friends, and the music was made by Michael Moog.

It was a brigade composed of 22 models all from diverse backgrounds. Following the path of an L shaped walkway before taking their positions on the stage, the crowd was introduced to a plethora of lux textiles for the latest collection. Exaggerated suits made of glen plaid (cut on the bias) and bold pinstripes were fan faves of the collection. Pieces made of PVC were also shown, especially the oxblood cape. Silver coated denim, organza shirts, and leather were also incorporated into the collection.

"I wanted the collection to have this late 70's early 80's type of vibe. I teamed up with Aubrey Loots for the hair. He provided up with some pretty amazing styles. Michelle Webb was responsible for the makeup. She gave the models the perfect amount of shimmer. I wanted a somewhat dewy look," he explains.

Always cohesive, always brilliant, always delivering the unexpected, is why we always look forward to seeing what Landeros will bring us every year.
