Julius LaCour SS 2016

FOREVER UNTIL THE END

Fashion Forward Men practically rode on Julius LaCour's coat tails from conception to birth for his S/S 2016 Collection. This is what happens when your sites creator is one of the designers closes friends. And to this day, we thank Julius' sister Allison for the referral.

Much has changed since our first write up on Mr. LaCour back in October of 2012. One major factor being his relocation from Chicago to New York. We imagine the transition was a tad nerve racking, but biting the bullet, the designer settled into his new surroundings barely showing anxiety, but trust us when we say-IT WAS THERE!!!

The move has proved itself to be a good decision. Great opportunities began to fall into place for the rising talent. Namely being asked to present pieces at the IMTA (International Modeling and Talent Association) convention in July.  Spanning the course of several days the conventions goal is to train and place aspiring models, actors, and fresh faces with established agencies.  Sprinkled throughout would be fashion shows. The United Colors of Fashion would be the show that LaCour would be showing his creations.Other designers included Heike Jarick, Adrian Alicea, and the internationally recognized Nicole Miller.

Only a month an a half shy of NYFW, LaCour decided to take advantage of this platform, by given the audience sneak peak of what was to come for his S/S 2016 Collection. It was just enough to hear necessary feedback that allowed him to know whether or not he was on the right track. The remainder of the looks he showcased would be from previous collections.

After revisions, and minor tweaks, it was now time for LaCour to showcase his entire collection. Using DK Display as his venue, the establishment that normally showcases beautifully crafted mannequins, was replaced by gorgeous models from diverse heritages and backgrounds.

Calling it Forever Until The End, LaCour delivered a monochromatic collection influenced by the military without going overboard.  Though lacking the the bursts of color often associated with Spring and Summer, the designer made up for it using a multitude of fabrics and textiles including brushed satin, waxed cotton, distressed vegan leather, neoprene mesh, and webbing tape.
