Mario Keine SS2016 (Lookbook)

Teleny

Since coming across our radars, we have always been intrigued by Mario Keine's approach to menswear. For his S/S 2016 Collection, the designer shares that his primary source of inspiration came from early works of literature.

Teleny, first published in London in 1893 is categorized as a homoerotic novel. Although attributed to the works of Oscar Wilde, it is highly speculated the novel was actually written by Wilde and some of his friends. The original story is about a Hungarian pianist named René Teleny. Teleny known for his striking good looks, would fall in love with  a Frenchman named Camille de Grieux.

Having a great fondness of the 80's Keine decided to revamp the story in order to make it more suitable to his collection. His depiction is as follows:

The collection tells the story of a guy, who's living a life very much influenced by intolerance and a chauvinistic attitude. He occupies most of his days hanging around with his best friends insulting people. Not
caring about his future, he often retreats to his room listening to Boy George. Dreaming himself away in another world in the past, he can show his real character to society and get accepted.

"The collection therefore is a mixture of 80s, New Romantics influenced clothing, structure, and most importantly,  the Blitz Kids."

Key pieces of the collection include faux leather trousers, knit vests, and lamé blazers.
