LANDEROS NEW YORK FALL/WINTER17

THE FOURTEENTH FLOOR

Though its unclear if the date of February 15th hold's any significance to designer Andre Landeros Michel. What we do know is that for its second year in a row, editors, stylist, and fashion lovers have gathered at the Scandinavian House in New York to see some serious creativity.

With a direct connection to our man of the hour, I scheduled a brief phone interview with Andre to dive into his mind to get to the very root of his latest collection. Always a sweetheart, Landeros excitedly broke it down like only he could.

For a great many of us, 80's music reigns as one of the top decades when it came to innovation. And with innovation comes image. This isn't the first time that we have done a piece on Landeros New York relating to 80's music, and it sure as hell won't be the last. For Landeros New York, 80's music is a part of this brands core.

For his Fall/Winter16 collection Andre paid homage to legendary New York club doorman Steve Strange,
and iconic talents such as David Bowie and Boy George (two artists that made the decade important).

His love affair with in your face personalities in music continues with his latest inspirations.Pete Burns (front man for band Dead or Alive), and Souxsie Sioux. These selections are in no way random. Bowie, Burns, Boy,and Souxsie all have something else in common aside from the musical talents. Each of them possess a higher caliber of personal style that is recognized and held in just of high regard than their musical attributes.

Androgyny, Glam and Luxury, other parts of the brands core was brought forth in this collection as well.  And fans of Landeros New York almost expect, respect , and practically demand it.
A very refreshing point to his latest collection, Landeros weaved in the bold color red.
And by no means was it a sprinkle. It played a very sounding element. A full length bright red trench coat caused jaws to drop as well as release a few screams of approval from patrons were heard when the look took its place in the presentation.

The collection also embodied a certain darkness. Landeros explains that references from the 1920's, The Occult and Séances serve as inspirations. A black lace jumpsuit, and an exaggerated sweater makes for notable pieces.

The embrace of the supernatural played a very significant part to his process. Andre tells me that aside from murder crimes, the movie Rosemary's Baby came with significant purpose. Parts of the movie was also brought into the shows invitation. Made of scrabble letters, and thrilling part of the movie, the invitation was composed of letters that spelled The Fourteenth Floor.

The name of this collection had me curious but after hearing why, also came with me having to congratulate Andre once more. In the early stages of settling in, Landeros New York has found a new home on West 38th street. You guessed it. It's on the fourteenth floor.
