The World Is Your Oyster (FW/17)

A COLLECTION ABOUT SELF WORTH

As long as we can remember, designers have weaved subtle messages on topics the feel strongly about into their creations. Vivienne Westwood has done it with her Be Specific and Politicians are Criminals collections, Pyer Moss did it with their Bernie and Bernie collection (a message about the current state of economy). And Blake Hyland has sent models down his runway with certain opinions of Donal Trump and Hilary Clinton.

For their Fall/Winter collection, Hong Kong based brand The World Is Your Oyster sends a message of self confidence. Many of us use our clothing as a sort of  shield of armor that we put on to protect ourselves from life's ordeals. The collection is composed of carefully planned details and features, one of them being the slits found in many of the trousers. By leaving a part open, you allow others to see your inner or true self.

The marrying of textiles was done in a unique way. The juxtaposition of  of varying textiles were paired together to demonstrate the beauty and uniqueness that we all have as individuals.
