THE WORKS OF DAVIDE GASPERINI
Much like the artist himself, Davide Gasperini's work exudes sex, mystery, and lust.
Born in Cesena, Italy in 1968, one can say that Gasperini has been surrounded by beauty all of his life. His work definitely reflects that.
In my gathering of research, I discovered that Davide has worked as a nude model. (Could it be that I am unraveling the layers of Gasperini's aesthetic?) In my opinion, those willing to sit and pose nude obviously has an admiration for the human form themselves. Its not just the idea of them sitting in as the subject of a photographer.
And though his modeling may explain his introduction to the world of photography, it doesn't quite explain his painting background.
As intricate and detailed as his paintings are, its safe to say that he acquired one skill long before the other. In fact, Davide has been painting since he was a child.
Using glass as one of his canvases, the young lad also toyed around with wood carving, showing is ability to appreciate texture at an early age.
What I fine fascinating about Davide's work, is that I am not really able to peg him completely just yet. His work is as if two different people are working as the artist. While his photography is erotic and sensual, his canvas works are bold and and in your face- infusing medieval, romantic, and dare I say pop art. David's work pulls you in, often times taking your eyes on a made of color and fantasy. A talented artist that keeps you guessing. Whats not to love about that?
