 Basketball players are practically Rock Stars on a court.  Getting paid top dollars to do what they love, only to flash elaborate lifestyles in our faces can make several jealous and millions idolize them.  For those that do happen to idolize, its only natural for them to want to look like their heroes.  They want to show they're  fashion savvy as well. Often times younger, and most likely not making the money to spend on the finest apparel, Urban Youth does something they have been doing for several decades now.  They tweak a look, and make it their own.  What most of them fail to realize is that their manipulations are actually birthing new trends that are later spread to the masses.
