SERGIO WONDER

Seeing Fashion Forward-It Guy Sergio Wonder makes you actually wonder all kinds of things about him. Where is he from, what does he do, and where on earth did he get his incredible sense of style? Me being the visual person I am, it was rather easy to recognize a few things about his character, but still I wanted to get inside his head and learn more about his esthetic about life and fashion.

Although Sergio has somewhat of a worldly aura about him, he was actually raised in Miami, Florida. And for those of you interested, NO he is no longer there… After graduating high school, Wonder went overseas to attend school in London at AIU, majoring in Fashion Marketing and Design. And if you know about fashion related schooling, you would know that AIU has several branches. Some even located in the states, so naturally I asked about his reasons for going so far away.

“I wanted to get outside of my comfort zone, and to see what I was capable of learning, as well as producing. I think it’s amazing what we can do when we are put to the test,” he explains.

It comes as no surprise that after his stint in London, Sergio would not be content in going back to Miami. Like the true fashionisto, or shall I say League of Extraordinary Man that he is (inside joke), he was destined to relocate to New York.

“Although Miami is a great place, there really isn’t really a market a market for fashion there just yet, and New York has all the resources to put my passions to work.”

 

I don’t want to steer off of the fashion aspect of this intriguing man, but one thing I want to add in this piece is that Sergio has another passion that I have been dying to tell all of you because I think it’s so funny… This tall, skinny, untraditionally beautiful man has a great love of junk food… candy in particular. He has this cute, quirky thing that he does on his facebook account where he actually takes pictures of his daily “daily” drug of choice, often times making it more editorial by carefully placing them at a table along side his specs. I must say its genius, but I think he tries to cover his addiction by confessing his love for Italian food.

When Sergio isn’t stuffing his face on junk food and creating stick figure illustrations of his designs and friends, he sits back and listens to his favorite recording artists, Rahsaan Patterson, Sara Bareilles, N.E.R.D, Jill Scott, John Mayer, and Ledisi.

Not to go without saying, any Fashion Forward-It Guy has a love of designers/lines only to hit up their favorite shops and maybe adopt a few choice pieces of each collection to add into their fly closets. For the eclectic Sergio Wonder, he tends to flock to Rag & Bone, J Crew, Diesel, and a multitude of vintage stores, but also salivates over lines varying from Oscar de la Renta, to Proenza Schouler, to Christian Siriano, and of course the extremely fashion savvy master of style Andre Benjamin.

With striking good looks and such an adorable sense of humor, its quite apparent that Sergio has the ability of making any and almost anyone fall under his spell.. If you ever see him walking the streets of NYC however, I strongly suggest hiding treats enriched with sugar or he may just be following you home...
