Rudy's "Reed's" STAY IN YOUR LANE
(A MESSAGE FROM YOUR SITES CREATOR)
I am all about people trying their hand at various things, and I am a strong believer that sometimes practice makes perfect, or at least slightly better than you were before. In an industry that is based on what you look like, what talents you may "possibly" possess, and what you are able to achieve, ambition is a great thing to have. But for those that are still "reaching," you should have a very important word in your vocabulary..."aspiring."
Like always, when I am on my quest for the latest and hottest talents to feature on Fashion Forward Men, I sometimes come across those sites whose creators should have their hands popped. A word of advice to bloggers, stylists, designers, photographers, and make up artists... please recognize your talents before unleashing them to a massive audience such as the internet...
Scenario1
Photographers, sometimes you come up with concepts for a shoot. You bring a stylist and sometimes designer on board, and unfortunately a few items are missing for your vision. What do you do?? you make them yourself. I am totally against this because A. You rarely know what you are doing, and B. the ending product looks a hot mess, and yet you still take pictures of it.
Solution: Hire a stylist that can found them before the shoot or use the idea for a future shoot.
Scenario2
Stylist you have a dress or pair of pants that needs to be shortened... What do you do??? You hem them yourself. Absolutely wrong!!!
Solution:You use double stick tape or take it to a tailor to do a more professional job because that jagged line with surely show up in the images.
Scenario3
Hairstylist, you cant find a makeup artist for a shoot so what do you do??? You do it yourself. Again, WRONG!!! A great many people who are efficient in the hair trade, are not able to do make up, and unless you are grooming for a shoot with a Homie The Clown theme: LEAVE THE PAINT ALONE!!!
In closing, I just want to say that although my words may sound harsh in this post, that isn't my intentions. Although I realize that some people possess a multitude of talents and are able to pull this off, that doesn't mean everyone can. If your ambitions are to be able to do more than you are recognized for, I applaud you, just give yourself time to develop your new craft a little more before you do.
